French-knot detail

French-knots are perfect for tiny details.
This silk-print lady was wearing a cap or hair ornament so
to make it detailed I stitched tiny french-knots
in a fine wool thread.

CQJP March in progress

Surrounded with flowers.
Running low on silk ribbon. Note to self.
Buy metres and metres :) lol.

Yes the photo has shadows across it, as its hard to get a good shot at the mo as we seem to have gone into an early Autumn here and the days are very changeable. But you get the idea. :)

CQJP February Block Finished

The finished block and a few closeups for you. :)

Daisy like flowers in all sorts of textures are my main love in crazy quilting. I use Stranded embroidery threads, silk ribbons, organza ribbons, crochet cottons, with upcycled crochet motifs and bits of lace and net.Lots of basic embroidery stitches and THEN
Beads. Lots of beads :).
You may notice that scattered all over the place are little bunches of french knots. I do these to use up the ends of any threads.
Little triangles of 3 knots always adds a dash of texture.

And the block as a whole.

I have a heap of the black butterflys and they will be seen alot in this quilt :)

I'm thoroughly enjoying stitching these blocks.

CQJP in Progress. Silk Ribbon Flowers and more

Embellishing is soooo much fun.
Silk ribbon gives a wonderful texture difference on velvet or lace.

Lots of Colour

Yummy colours for stitching down
my backgrounds. :)

And DMC Rayon thread is yummy for doing plump
french knots when using all 6 strands.

This is great fun :)

I hope everyone else in the challenge
is having as much fun as I am :)

Getting Started.CQJP

Like some others who have joined the CQJP, I cant work on one block at a time at the beginning.
So here are my blocks.
They are approx 11" sq at the mo, but after the next stage I will trim them to about 9-10. Will make a decision when i get to that part. :)

And some silk prints.

Happy stitching for 2012
