Sometimes these days I think that if I had another brain cell, it would be lonely.

Book/Card Wrap. Crazy Quilt Shabby Chic.

When I recieve greeting cards, they get displayed around the house.

And when they are done, they were put in a drawer.

But now,I have this. I call it my Crazy Quilt Shabby Chic look. ;)

Embroidered, beaded fabric collage of repurposed and upcycled

vintage linens.

This shows the whole piece. Slightly larger than A4.

And for a few closeups.

The inside was lined with a piece of calico

that has been spice dyed and has a lovely aged look.

Just right for wrapping my precious cards.

So here it is again all wrapped up.

I hope you enjoy the eye candy.

Some Opals, Marcasite, Faux Diamond.

Ribbon Flowers , some I made, some I bought.

Pansies rescued from an old doily.

Its tricky to get all the texture in a photo but I hope these help.

Jewel Tone Gifts

Keyrings. Or large charm for a handbag.

I'm having trouble getting good photos.

But you get the idea.

Each Mother recieved these for Mothers Day.

My own background fabric, heavily embellished with

thread and beads.

Again a small joyful project.

Shabby Chic Lacey Collage Part 2

I hardly ever do One thing at a time and playing with the lacey doilys was no exception.

Collage #2

 

On a base of coffee dyed calico,

I played around till I was happy with the placement.

Then I machine stitched just to hold everything together

and to make handling easier as I add embroidery

and beading.

I thoroughly enjoyed this part of the process

and will be doing alot more I'm sure.

Shabby Chic Lacey Collage

I had a wonderful time going thru my Lacey/doily collection and

was inspired to put this together.

But first, a large picnic basket of goodies.

And a filebox of embellishments.

And Ta Daa!!

The start.

A little bit of playing.

And ended up with this.

I've machine basted/stitched to hold it all together.

Then I will embellish with embroidery and beads.

The texture and the layers I find very pleasing to look at and hold.

And will be added to the

beside-my-chair

grouping to be stitched at my leisure.

Eco-Dye.More fun

I did this second lot of dying at the same time as the first.

Using Eucalyptus bark this time from a different cemetary.

I just broke it up into the pot and followed the same process as last time.

The fabric is actually darker than the photo shows.

A hard to describe colour but interesting none- the- less.

Will most likely end up in a collage.

Dark n  broody.
